Hans Aksel is a Cand. Real. from the University of Oslo, specializing in chemistry, geography/geology and biology (graduate). He worked for three years as a high school teacher before applying as a researcher at Norsk Hydro’s Research Centre in Porsgrunn in 1985. At Hydro he worked with environmental issues in relation to all Hydro’s research areas at the time, especially within oil, gas and petrochemicals. This work consisted of impact studies, life cycle assessments, emission surveys and due diligence. Since the end of the 80’s he has been working with climate gasses, different energy carriers, and he showed a very early interest within CO2 capture and storage (CCS). Hans Aksel resigned at Hydro in 2001, and after a period as a consultant (PricewaterhouseCoopers and independent), he’s since 2004 been employed at Tel-Tek, where he is the department leader for GassTek. He has established a large set of contacts both within Norway as well as internationally and has contributed towards a number of articles within CCS.
