A test facility for CO2 capture in the cement industry is being built at Norcem's cement plant in Brevik, Norway.
A pre-engineering study was previously carried out. Funding for building the test facility has been provided by Gassnova via the Climit program to the project partners Norcem, HeidelbergCement and the European Cement Research Academy (ECRA). There are several sub-contractors in the project, including technology suppliers Aker Clean Carbon, DNV Kema/NTNU/Yodfat, RTI and Alstom as well as Tel-Tek/TUC and the Norcem Brevik plant. Tel-Tek/TUC is responsible for a benchmark analysis comparing the different technologies to be tested in Brevik.
